SKIN AGING

Over 40 Years

Changes In Skin From 40 to 50 Years

This decade is really the start of “apparent” aging. The effect of years of tiring work, stress, raising children, and overindulgence start to show. Your overall health at this age will have significant impact on the health of your heart, bones, strength, and your overall health. This in turn, shows through in your skin and general appearance.

As the muscles in the face start to lose strength, and the number of different skin aging symptoms accumulates, the overall impact can result in a tired, strained appearance. Common aging signs include:

  • Wrinkles
  • Dropping eyelids
  • Sagging eyebrows
  • Discoloration from the sun
  • Broken capillaries, spider veins
  • Neck and jaw jowls
  • Stubborn fat build up in thighs, buttocks and bellies
  • Moles, Warts and Skin Tags [small bits of excessive skin]

For effective treatments of these conditions

Changes In Skin From Over 55

The aging process appears to speed up over 55. This is true in some areas, however, it is more likely that the number of aging symptoms that have been building slowly over the previous 30 years, are becoming apparent at the same time.

This is the age when a combination of effective treatments for the outer appearance, supplemented by healthy routines of diet, exercise and annual check-ups can keep you well ahead of the aging curve.

We are fortunate today, that many of these treatments have been refined and more are developing every year. The most common treatments sought at this age are: laser therapy, cosmetic skin treatments, liposuction, chemical peels, wrinkle fillers, blepharoplasty [eyelid surgery], hair restoration.

Skin Cancer

One of the biggest concerns at this age is skin cancer. Whilst skin cancer can appear at almost any stage of life, the incidence of skin cancer is much greater once you reach the fifties.

It is estimated that one in seven people in the United States will develop some form of skin cancer during their lifetime. Fortunately, most skin cancer is curable, especially if recognized and treated early.

There are three types of skin cancer to be on the lookout for -- basal cell, squamous cell and the more dangerous malignant melanoma.
