ANTIAGING PRODUCTS
BUYING GUIDE TO SUPPLEMENTS
Antiaging Nutritional Supplements
There are a large number of antiaging products, including
essential vitamins and minerals, being touted on the
market today. Most deliver to their promise, but beware,
there are those out there that promise far more than
the body can deliver.
A good thing to remember when using any antiaging product,
if the body is not functioning well on the inside, a
large percentage of the product benefit will be lost.
Skin which is in good condition, is regularly exfoliated
is better able to absorb the antiaging properties of
anti-wrinkle
creams and serums.
Likewise with nutritional
supplements. If the bowel and liver are not in good
condition, if the intestinal flora are not in a healthy
balance, then one can not hope to extract the nutrients
to the optimal levels. Regular bowel cleansing and detoxification
programs help to keep things in good order and give
you a better return on your investment in antiaging
nutritional supplements.
The FDA has ruled that any product which changes the
functioning of the human cell, is regarded as medicinal
and MUST have NDA approval. Many antiaging nutritional
supplements fall into this category, such as glyconutrients,
Alpha Lypoic Acid [ALA], and Human
Growth Hormone [HGH].
Natural or Synthetic Supplements?
There is a recent trend towards natural vitamins and
nutritional supplements as opposed to the more traditional,
synthetic versions.
Many experts have concluded that natural vitamins and
nutritional supplements are easier absorbed by the body,
thereby proving more effective in their interaction
within the body.
Synthetic products cost less than their natural counterparts.
However, some would argue that because natural products
may be more effective, the extra expenses associated
with these products may pay off over the long run.
There is some limited evidence that some of the materials
contained in synthetic vitamins and nutritional supplements
may not be beneficial to a human being over time, some
might even be harmful over time. The research in this
regard is not, as of yet, conclusive. This has already
encouraged synthetic supplement manufacturers to boost
the absorption potential of their products.
Quality Endorsements
Check the label for quality seals "USP or or “ConsumerLab”.
These two seals assure you that the supplement contains
every ingredient claimed in the claimed. The seal will
also guarantee the supplements have been checked for
poisons such as pesticides and contaminants such as
bacteria.
Gender & Age Appropriate
If getting multivitamins, chose one specifically for
your gender and age. Our need for vitamin supplementation
changes at different times in our life.
Expiry Dates
Ensure that expiry dates are well beyond when you expect
to finish the vitamin contents. If purchasing EFA's
or acidophilus supplements, ensure they have been stored
appropriately to avoid oxidation or loss of potency.
