ANTIAGING BODY TREATMENTS
Body Lift
An important part of any wellness program is keeing
our weight in healthy ranges. When a significant weight
loss occurs, the skin cannot ‘spring’ back
to firmly contain the new healthier physique.
As we age, skin elasticity reduces significantly, such
that even moderate weight loss can leave unsightly hanging
bulges in the abdominal area, buttocks, inner thighs
and underarms.
Body Lifts
Body lifts can correct this excess skin and is mainly
used to tighten the abdominal skin and muscle, and to
lift the thigh and buttock areas. This is a highly customised
procedure, with unavoidable scarring. However, surgeons
work with the patient to identify distinct goals and
priorities and place the scar lines appropriately.
This procedure is an extension of the classic abdominoplasty
and can be done with minor shaping liposuction as needed.
The Body Lift Procedure
A body lift is usually done as an outpatient, but
hospital stays may be indicated for some body lift patients.
Body Lift After Care
Pain is managed using a pump to allow early walking
to reduce postsurgical risk and speed recovery.
Return to work is usually 2-3 weeks following the
body lift procedure, however fully normal activities
can be 2-3 months.
Continuing a proper diet and exercise plan is highly
recommended with all body contouring procedures.
Risks And Contraindications For Body Lifts
Risk of blood transfusion and/or infection are very
low; but smokers and the very overweight patient are
not good candidates for this procedure.
