Semi Permanent Dermal Fillers
Outline
Outline is a non-animal, absorbable Polylacrylamide
HYDROGEL dermal filler using a gentle positive charge,
to attract negatively-charged pro-collagen molecules.
Once housed and protected by the Outline, the pro-collagen
molecules assemble into collagen and form part of your
tissues. When the positive charge has become equalled
by the negative charge, the attraction stops.
Outline replaces lost tissue and provides the frame
work for new collagen assembly. Most polyacrylamides
are insoluble and do not break down but Outline has
been formulated in such a way that it is broken down
very slowly by tissue enzymes into smaller fragments
of polyacrylamide and then removed naturally from the
body. Outline is a longer lasting temporary filler which
can last for up to five years depending upon the type
used and area treated.
Radiesse™
Is made up of is approximately 30% CaHA and 70% gel
carrier by volume. The CaHA spheres are composed of
calcium and phosphate ions which occur naturally in
human tissue. It is a long lasting, resorbable filler
- with the effect claimed to last approximately 2 years
depending on the patient and the area treated. Once
injected into your skin, the smooth and spherical CaHA
particles form a framework which your own tissue grows
new collagen cells between. The gel carrier dissolves
within a few months and over time, the CaHA particles
gradually break down and are completely metabolised
by the body, leaving only the new collagen structure.
Restylane
Restylane ® product range consists of four different
sizes of gel particle specifically designed for use
in certain areas of the face. All products are are a
non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gel. Restylane
intermediate gel particle size that makes it suitable
for moderate wrinkles and lip enhancement. It is recommended
that it is injected into the middle part of the dermis
(middle layer of skin). Restylane Perlane has a larger
gel particle size and is used for deep lines, facial
contouring, and lip enhancement.
It is injected into the deep layer of the dermis. Restylane
Touch has the smallest gel particle size in the Q-med
range and is used for the correction of very thin superficial
lines. It is injected into the upper part of the dermis.
Restylane Lipp has been specially designed for injecting
into the lips for enhancement and contouring.
Restylane SubQ has the largest gel particle size in
the range and is used to replace fat loss in the face
and create or restore a more defined facial contour.
Reviderm Intra
Reviderm Intra is an injectable implant (flexible Dextran
microbeads -- Dextran is a carbohydrate complex, the
liquid form was once used in the place of saline in
breast implants) 40-60 microns in size. The micro-beads
are evenly suspended in a non-animal hyaluronic acid.
Reviderm intra is injected subdermally.
The volume to be implanted depends on the depth and
size of the skin defect or wrinkle. After the procedure,
the hyaluronic acid vehicle will be degraded by the
body within 3–6 months. All dextran beads will
be totally encapsulated by a fine fibrous capsule. This
connective tissue holds the dextran beads in place indefinitely
and the process will be completed within 2 – 4
months after injection. As the beads appear to be biodegradable
over time, the results may be long lasting but not permanent.
Sculptra ®
Sculptra ® - previously branded as New-Fill®
- can help cause new collagen growth rather than just
mechanically filling depressions. Sculptra® is used
more as a sculpting agent rather than just wrinkle filler
and larger areas can be treated with a longer lasting
result. The product itself is not permanent but the
effects can last up to 2 years.
